GINKGO (Ginkgo biloba ‘Autumn Gold’) A-19

This handsome, symmetrical tree can reach heights of 50’. Bright-green, fan-shaped, alternate leaves change to an excellent golden yellow in the fall. A freeze will cause the leaves to drop almost overnight. The bark is usually gray brown and ridged with darker furrows. Native: Eastern China.

GOLDEN RAINTREE, PANICLED (Koelreuteria paniculata) D-6

This popular street tree has feather-like leaves with bright-green, deeply cut leaflets. It grows 30-40’ high. The early summer blossoms are a very showy yellow and appear in loose, triangular, upright clusters that are up to a foot long. The three-sided, bladder-like seed pods with papery walls (resembling Chinese lanterns) follow in late summer. This tree is adapted to drought, heat, and acid soil. It has no serious pests. The bark becomes rigid with age. Native: China, Japan, and Korea.
